Transylvanian Churches

In this cool exhibition in the Museum of Ethnography in Budapest you can see works made between 1880 and 1920, mostly made by art teachers, showing churches in Transylvania. The official description says: “The works exhibited show important sites of our built heritage, Calvinist, Roman Catholic, Unitarian, Greek Catholic, Orthodox, churches and bell towers from multiethnic and multidenominational Transylvania.” If this sounds interesting, why not check out the exhibition? It is going to be on until March 18th, 2012.

Palinka and Sausage festival this weekend

If you are in Budapest this weekend, why not check out the annual Palinka and Sausage festival arranged in the Castle area, near the Castle Hill Funicular. Here you can taste the best Hungarian sausages, and of course taste a whole lot of Hungarian Palinka, the Hungarian fruit brandy. The most popular Palinka is probably the apricot version, but you can also find Palinka made of for example plum, peach, apple, pear, strawberry and other fruits!

Winefestival in Budapest soon

The International Wine Festival is one of the most popular festivals in all of Hungary every year. In 2011 you can visit this in the Castle area between September 7-11. Here you can taste a wide specter of Hungarian wines, and you can for sure eat some typical Hungarian festival food.

It is hard to say whether the match between Hungary and Finland will be an interesting one or not, but if we are lucky, this might be a match that will have importance for Hungary, and where they are still fighting to be among the teams present at the European Championship in 2012. Hungary and Sweden are doing quite good in the qualification for the European Championship in 2012. Therefore the match at Puskás Ferenc Stadium in Budapest will be extremely important, leaving the team loosing this match little, or no chance at all, for qualifying to the Euro 2012. Christmas Market 2011

We already receive emails from persons and groups planing to come to Budapest for the annual Christmas Market in 2011. The most frequent question is of course when the Christmas Market will open, and the correct answer is November 18th. So, if you would like to see the traditional and great Christmas market at Vörösmarty Square in Budapest, make sure to arrive to Budapest sometime around November 18th or later.

Budapest Beerfestival 2011

Budapest is a city of great festivals, and this year between August 25 and 28 a new festival will see the light of day in the capital of Hungary. Budapest Beerfestival will be arranged in the backyard of the Castle, and this is a festival where you can taste a mixture of Hungarian beers and international beers. There will be several other programs, concerts and artists on the spot.

Budapest Palinka Festival 2011

Palinka

The annual Budapest Palinka Festival will be arranged between May 5th and May 8th in 2011. This year the focus will be on Plum-palinka, but you can of course taste a whole lot of other Palinka’s as well if you visit the festival. The Palinka Festival will this year be arranged for the sixth time at the Hunyadi Court, in the Buda Castle area. This festival should not be confused with the annual Palinka and Sausage festival arranged every autumn, also in the area next to the Buda Castle.
