The Galilei hotel is a cheap hotel in the absolute center of Budapest. It can be found in the shopping street Vaci Utca, with The Great Market Hall and the Danube just around the corner. Restaurants as Matyas Pince and Karpatiais just as well around the corner. This is not a luxury hotel at all, but it serves your basic needs, and has the advantage that it is as central as it can be.
The hotel has recently been renewed, and it has its own restaurant offering you halfboard, if you would like them too. Normally breakfast is not included in the price here, but it shouldnt be a problem finding a good restaurant or so nearby.

This hotel runs a dishonest cafe business. They provide you food and drinks that you don’t ask for and then charge you for them. They offer 50% discounts on beer and “all Hungarian food,” and then after you order from the section of the menu that lists “Hungarian Specialties,” they tell you later that the meals you ordered are not the Hungarian food that is subject to the discount (but they offer no information about what meals are discounted, except that they are the “Hungarian food.”). They charge for bread. They charge extra for the galushka noodles in the chicken paprikash dish – this is an integral part of chicken paprikash!! Without it, you have only a couple pieces of chicken floating in saucy broth. Worst of all, when you nicely ask them to reconsider the charges, they get angry and yell at you and tell you how wrong you are. Avoid this place if you don’t want to have the hassle of being scammed.
