Lumina Christmas Park

Lumina Park is a fantastic place to be in Budapest. It first opened in October 2022 and remained open until March 2023. Since you see constructions with beautiful light decorations the concept only works during the winter months, meaning that it is only available in this period of the year. Due to the success, Lumina Park recently announced that it will return in the coming year(s). But, they will also come with even more, because as of 2023/24, a new addition is the Lumina Christmas Park.

Lumina Christmas Park will remind visitors of the original Lumina Park, only that the focus will be on Christmas and on bringing the Christmas atmosphere to the visitors. While Lumina Park is at Margaret Island in the Palatinus Bath, Lumina Christmas Park is in Romaifürdő, a little bit further outside the city center of Budapest (in the direction towards Szentendre).

In Lumina Christmas Park there will be a postal office, a Christmas village, an ice world, the Aurora Borealis (northern light), Christmas tree forests, Santa Clauses, and everything needed for people of all ages to have a good time.

Will there be a Christmas market in the Christmas Park?

Lumina Christmas Park is not a place for shopping. There will be some stalls where you can buy something to eat and drink, but it is not meant to be a Christmas market. Lumina Park 2025

Lumina Park is a magical world full of illuminated decorations and buildings. It offers a fairy tale walk that will bring some light into a dark season (autumn/winter). The project first launched in Poland and has now arrived in Budapest where it was first arranged in 2022/23. Lumina Park Budapest is arranged at Palatinus Beach, romantically located at Margaret Island.

Budapest is known for its beautiful buildings. As you walk along the Danube at night (or enjoy a boat trip on the Danube), you can witness the true beauty of the city while looking at the beautiful Chain Bridge, the Parliament, the Castle, the Fishermen’s Bastion, the Gellert statue, the other bridges, the National Theater, and many other buildings. But, if you come between the end of October and early March, you can enjoy even more lights if you visit the Lumina Park at Margaret Island.

Lumina Park opens in the evening (when it gets dark), meaning that it varies between 16:30 and 18:00 (depending on when you decide to visit the park). The last time for entry to the park on any given day is 20:00.

As you walk inside the park, you can see beautiful buildings, animals, characters, and more that will make you marvel. Below you can see some pictures from the first Lumina Park ever arranged in Budapest.

All pictures originate from the official website of Lumina Park Budapest. The exhibition changes every year, meaning that you will not see these objects (which were exhibited in 2022/23) if you decide to visit Lumina Park this year.

Margaret Island is a fantastic location in Budapest worth visiting for all tourists coming to Budapest. It is a quiet location without traffic where you can walk for hours, go for a run, get a SPA treatment in a hotel, or just bring a book to relax and enjoy life.
